Reimagining a modest 1960s bungalow as a refined, high-quality family residence

This project involves the transformation of a modest 1960s bungalow near Wetherby into a substantial, contemporary family home. Through a carefully considered design approach, E3 Architecture secured full planning permission from the Local Planning Authority to more than double the size of the existing dwelling, fundamentally redefining both its scale and architectural character.
The original bungalow presented limited presence and internal functionality. Our proposal reimagines the property as a cohesive, high-quality residence, introducing a new architectural language that balances modern living requirements with sensitivity to its surroundings. The design carefully reshapes the massing, roof form, and elevations to create a home that feels purposeful, refined, and proportionate within its setting.
Internally, the reconfigured layout delivers generous, light-filled living spaces arranged to maximise outlook, flow, and day-to-day functionality. Large openings and carefully positioned glazing strengthen the connection between the home and its garden, while the revised plan supports contemporary family living without compromising privacy or comfort.
Following successful planning approval, the project is now on site, marking the next phase in the delivery of this transformation. We look forward to seeing the design realised and the existing bungalow evolve into a distinctive, high-quality family home that demonstrates the potential of thoughtful redevelopment and strong planning strategy.
